Partial discharges in transformers:

 Basic concepts, analysis and monitoring

Duration50 min.
LanguageSpanish

Partial discharges are dielectric discharges in a partial area of the solid or liquid electrical insulation system under the stress of high voltage.

Partial discharges of a transformer deteriorates its insulation and can cause the transformer to fail. These failures are a problem that must be corrected as soon as possible in order to prevent further damage. Measuring these partial discharges in the field is no easy task and often requires a great effort to avoid ambient noise. Monitoring is a strategic partner in evaluating the condition of partial discharges in the field.
